DJ Positions Info & Application

NK Airplay Radio Application Procedures

So, you think you want to be part of the team? Do you think you have a radio personality?

NK Airplay Radio does have a set of rules and regulations for each DJ that is affiliated with NK Airplay Radio. Please read the terms and conditions below, and if you agree with them, please feel free to apply.

We strive to be the best internet station online today, and we need the best DJ's to make that happen!

Terms and Conditions

NK Airplay Radio is a “drama-free” radio station. We are here for our listeners, not for our DJs or Friends/Family. A business-manner is expected of all our on-air and other staff. Any comments that violate laws of any jurisdiction will result in immediate dismissal and we will not be held responsible for any such violations. You are personally responsible for what you say or play on your shift!

All “volunteers’ of NK Airplay Radio will be treated with the utmost respect!

We do not talk badly of anyone, especially other radio stations and their staff members. If you make such remarks about others or other stations, you will be dismissed!

As a “volunteer” of NK Airplay Radio you are required to have access to Skype. This program is free and needed so that our listeners may contact you while you are on air. Staff conference calls take place through Skype on a regular basis as well.

NK Airplay Radio is a volunteer radio station, but we do require that you show up on time for your scheduled shift. If for some reason, you are not able to work your shift, please notify station management at least one hour before your on air-time, if at all possible.

The staff/team and station’s success will depend on how well you interact with your listeners. You will have to be able to handle a variety of people, situations, and technical difficulties that arise while you are on air. Confidence is key!

If you have a personal conflict with another staff member please notify station management of the situation immediately and it will be handled accordingly. Do not bring other staff members into the conflict.

We are here to have fun and play some excellent tunes. Enjoy your airtime and help us make NK Airplay Radio something we can all be proud of!

You must be able to moderate any chats that NK Airplay Radio hosts, if you are available at the times the chats are scheduled. Understanding and implementing moderating functions will be included as part of your DJ training.

Most importantly, NK Airplay Radio prides itself in focusing on good times, laughs, having fun, meeting new people, and sharing our love for NKOTB and related artists with all of our listeners.

If this sounds like something you would like to be involved in, please don’t hesitate to fill in the application and submit your documents to us NOW. :)

Application

If you agree with and are willing to follow the above terms and conditions please do apply. We look forward to having you as a part of the team! Please do the following:

Step One (We can have lots of fun!)
Fill in the application at the bottom of this page and click “submit” – if you are taken back to a Bravenet page, your application was successfully submitted.

For all of the other steps below, send only one email (with all attachments) to:
djpositions@nkairplay.com

Step Two (There’s so much we can do!)
Record a two-minute audio of yourself starting your show, reading 3 requests/dedications, and then ending your show. We are looking at your personality, your ability to banter with the listeners, and your on-air voice

Step Three (It’s just you and me!)
Write up a short (one paragraph) bio of yourself and attach it to the email.

Step Four (I can give you more!)
From time to time, you will run into problems (it’s inevitable) while you are on the air and we want to know how you would handle certain situations and help you gain confidence so when they do happen, you are fully prepared. Below are some scenarios of things that have happened to all of us deejays in the past. I would like for you to make a recording for each scenario, pretending to handle the situations as if you were on air.

Scenario 1:
You have cued up a track, but it doesn’t play. Usually it skips it and goes to the next track. Would you stop the track and explain? Or would you just let the track play and then explain after it’s finished? Please submit an audio of yourself telling the listeners what happened, based on the decision you made (to stop it or let it play).

Scenario 2:
You have played the wrong song or said the wrong name for a request. Please submit an audio of yourself telling the listeners what happened.

Scenario 3:
You have been told that one of the New Kids, management, or producers, etc is listening. While that is exciting, it is also EXTREMELY nerve-wracking. We don’t want to advertise to the listeners that “so-and-so” is listening but we need to be professional at all times. Please submit an audio of yourself sending out a song request to a listener, pretending that your favorite guy is listening. (I know it’s not even close to the real thing but, bear with me!)

Step Five (Don’t you know that the time has arrived!)

We will be contacting you within one week, either way, UNLESS you are applying to be on the wait-list. Then, we will contact you when a position becomes available.

Thank you and best wishes!
